Recently I spent some time in Vancouver, in the west end, Stanley Park, English Bay Beach – beautiful there, but the darker narrative lyrics that came out of my time there are a bit of a contrast to the beautiful surroundings…I hope you get a sense of the character I portray in this song…There is a good chance this song will end up on the JK & The Sound record we are about half-way finished recording…

The Sylvia Hotel (Kasper – June 2012)

Ah she lives in, yeah she drinks at
the mini-bar in the executive suite at
the west end mansion
Called The Sylvia Hotel

And the next day at her day job
At seven-eleven, puts her smile on
Kinda feels like hell
But better days to come

Home to shower, makes her own dinner
No one to bring her flowers, puts on her night clothes
Off to her hard job
To meet another man named John

And it goes on and on
Rainy nights and home at dawn
And it goes on and on
That old promise of a new sun

She takes a night class in accounting
On a weekday, won’t cut into business
She’s good with numbers
It’s the people that she doesn’t much like

And it goes on and on
Rainy nights and home at dawn
And it goes on and on
That old promise of a new sun

Stayed home from class one night
And a jealous girlfriend came around knockin’
at The Sylvia Mansion, packin’ a shotgun
And an axe to grind

And it goes on and on
Rainy nights and home at dawn
And it goes on and on
That old promise of a new sun
