Hey everybody,

apologies for neglecting this blog for the past while – “life is what happens to you when you’re busy making other plans,” as John Lennon sang…So here are my most recent completed lyrics. The song will appear on the 5-song rock EP I am putting out in the new year.

Written sept.2-3, 2012, at the dove creek cabin, bc. minor revisions later in the month.

Stunning Sylvia (J.Kasper 2012)

Stunning beauty, it’s a wonder that you’re even here

Stunning beauty, how can you be true, you’re not, I fear

Stunning beauty, it’s a crime that I don’t breathe in your heart

beautiful butterfly, they collect you in a jar

Stunning Sylvia, I wonder if you’ll let me in

Stunning Sylvia, I want to make my home in your skin

Stunning Sylvia, I want some and I want some more

beautiful butterfly, they collect you in a jar

Stunning beauty

Beautiful butterfly

They collect you in a jar

Well, hello everyone,

I just wrote a new song called “In Every Room,” and I thought I’d share the lyrics with you. I’m pretty excited about it, as it reflects our band’s current roots-rock incarnation more than any song to date.  Musically, this one is influenced by the 2011 Foo Fighters record “Wasting Light,” Matthew Good’s 2009 album “Vancouver,” Prairie Dance Club’s 2007 self-titled debut, and The Frames’ 2007 offering “The Cost”…4 albums I’ve been listening to quite a bit over the past year (yes, I realize four albums worth of material to influence one song is excessive). Speaking of Glen Hansard (The Frames), I highly recommend the new documentary “The Swell Season.”  In the past couple years, Glen has shot up to probably my number one influence – although Hayden, Damien Rice, and Mark Kozelek are right up there too. Anyway, I hope to add “In Every Room” to the new James Kasper & The Sound album we’re currently in the studio creating, and which we plan to release this fall. I won’t explain the lyrics, but I hope you can relate to them in your own way…

In Every Room

Tired of running

in the same old circles

Tired of the ruins

of the same old squares

my Irish skin wants to settle in

build a fire with you

build a house with you

have a revolution in every room

our revolution is coming soon

Tired of traveling

in the same old circus

Tired of unraveling

with the same old clowns

my Irish skin wants to settle in

build a fire with you

build a house with you

have a revolution in every room

our revolution is coming soon

Farrah, where are you

when I need a whole new circumstance

Farrah, where are you

when I need your fucked-up happy dance

Farrah, what is it with us

my Irish skin wants to settle in

build a fire with you

build a house with you

have a revolution in every room

our revolution is coming soon
